Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Transaction Monitoring Officer at Moneygate. This role will involve fine-tuning and optimizing our transaction monitoring strategy, ensuring our systems effectively identify and mitigate financial crime risks. The successful candidate will work closely with our Transaction monitoring, AML and technology teams to ensure our monitoring rules are up-to-date and aligned with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Actively participate in the design and refinement of the transaction monitoring strategy, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations.
Optimize and fine-tune the transaction monitoring strategy: Monitor and adjust the monitoring rules and thresholds to improve risk detection and reduce false positives.
Identify trends, emerging risks, and typologies to propose enhancements to monitoring rules.
Conduct investigations: Review client activity and transactions, making risk-based decisions and providing recommendations for case resolution.
Stay updated on regulatory developments: Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the transaction monitoring system and strategy are compliant with AML requirements.
Report and documentation: Maintain detailed records of investigations, findings, and compliance activities for reporting to management and regulatory bodies.
Support audits and inspections: Assist with internal and external audits and reviews of transaction monitoring systems.
Qualifications and Experience
Must have qualifications:
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a compliance or AML role, with a specific focus on transaction monitoring in a financial institution, EMI, or payment services provider (PSP).
Transaction Monitoring Systems: Experience working with transaction monitoring systems and a solid understanding of how to tune and optimize monitoring rules and thresholds.
AML Knowledge: Familiarity with AML and KYC regulations, including EU AML Directives and Central Bank of Cyprus guidelines.
Risk Analysis: Strong analytical skills with experience in investigating transaction patterns, client behavior, and identifying suspicious activity.
System Optimization: Experience fine-tuning, adjusting, and improving transaction monitoring systems, particularly in reducing false positives and enhancing alert quality.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to prepare reports and documentation for both internal stakeholders and regulators.
Qualifications that will be considered a plus:
Certifications: CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or equivalent certification.
Fintech Exposure: Experience working with fintech, EMIs, or payment processors.
Data-Driven Mindset: Ability to work with data to analize, optimize and improve rule performance based on historical transaction data and risk typologies.
Exposure to cryptocurrency transactions, blockchain analytics, or crypto asset service providers (CASPs).
