Position Overview:

The Head of IT – Systems Administration, IT Management, and Networking is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization’s entire IT infrastructure, including systems administration, network management, and IT strategy. This role ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems that support core organizational functions and user experience. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with strategic planning, team leadership, and a proactive approach to technology management and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with business goals and objectives.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Systems Administration:

• Oversee the management, configuration, and maintenance of servers, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Implement best practices for system performance, availability, security, backup, and disaster recovery planning.
• Ensure compliance with software licensing, security standards, and regulatory requirements.

IT Management:

• Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
• Manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, and procurement processes.
• Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance operational efficiency.

Networking:

• Design, implement, and maintain network architecture, including LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless networks, and firewall configurations.
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and ensure optimal network security.
• Plan for network scalability, capacity planning, and integration of new solutions.

Security & Compliance:

• Develop and enforce robust IT security policies to protect data and systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
• Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and legal requirements.
• Collaborate with risk management teams to implement risk mitigation strategies.

Project Management:

• Lead IT projects from planning to deployment, ensuring timely execution and alignment with business needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement technology solutions that support business processes.
• Manage system integrations, upgrades, migrations, and incident response efforts.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

• Communicate effectively with executive leadership, department heads, and end-users to understand requirements and translate them into IT solutions.
• Provide regular updates and reporting on IT performance, project status, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Proven experience (typically 7+ years) in IT leadership roles, with a strong background in systems administration, IT management, and networking.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, project management, and team leadership.

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in managing complex IT infrastructures, including servers, databases, virtualization, cloud services, and networking.
• Proficiency with operating systems (Windows, Linux/Unix), virtualization platforms, and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Strong understanding of network protocols, security standards, firewall management, and network performance monitoring.
• Familiarity with ITIL, DevOps practices, and agile project management methodologies.

Leadership & Management:

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and deliver results under tight deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.

Additional Qualifications:

• Industry certifications (e.g., CCNA/CCNP, MCSE, VMware, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.
• Knowledge of compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) and cybersecurity frameworks.
• Experience with disaster recovery planning, risk management, and business continuity planning.
