The Role

We're looking for our Head of Engineering for the EMEA region to build and maintain a top-tier engineering capability across Cyprus, Hungary, and wider Eastern Europe. In this pivotal leadership role, you will report to our CTO and lead the engineering function in EMEA with a bold and innovative vision. As the CTO's trusted partner in the region, you will have an instrumental role in propelling our success and driving growth with a clear mission of establishing and maintaining an outstanding engineering capability across various domains. We have a culture of accountability across Engineering squads and the role will continue to maintain and uplift alignment with our global structure, collaborating with counterparts in APAC. Throughout, you will adhere to engineering principles such as continuous delivery, test-driven development, and quality engineering, while employing practical problem-solving approaches.

The role is preferably based in Limassol, Cyprus, but we welcome candidates from other parts of Europe who are willing to relocate to Cyprus.


As our Head of Engineering- EMEA, your key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Developing and communicating a clear engineering vision aligned with the company's strategic objective within the retail brokerage market.
  • Leading innovation and efficiency initiatives, focusing on cutting-edge engineering practices including AI code assistants and leading-edge technologies.
  • Recruiting, mentoring, and retaining top-tier engineering talent, ensuring a high-performing and cohesive team across EMEA.
  • Setting performance metrics, conducting leadership evaluations, and implementing professional development plans to maintain excellence.
  • Building a high-performing engineering leadership team to ensure the efficient allocation of resources across different value streams and initiatives.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date view of engineering skills and capability assessments with a view to constantly ensuring redundancy and succession planning.
  • Maintaining the highest level of engineering standards around product delivery including performance benchmarking, latency, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborating with other departments to be an integral part of the technology organisation including portfolio, product, UX and platform engineering.
  • Committing to a continuous improvement program included relevant ceremonies such as design forums, architecture forums, engineering Dojo's and showcases.
  • Being the focal point for solutions to solve complex product and engineering challenges involving high performance and low-latency systems in the financial technology industry, specifically trading.

 

About You

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership position involving distributed teams across time-zones.
  • Deep understanding of financial technology particularly low latency, high performance, trading systems involving high velocity real-time data streams.
  • In-depth knowledge of high-performance software engineering including web technologies, trading technologies and payments with the ability to understand API, socket and messaging level protocols.
  • Excellent technical leadership capabilities including running engineering uplift forums and ceremonies, and the ability to command respect of other engineers.
  • Strong domain experience in global trading products and infrastructures, preferably involving well known trading vendors including DevExperts, TradingView or MetaQuotes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of common software architectures, engineering patterns and methodologies (e.g., Eventing, Object-oriented, TDD, BDD, etc.)
  • Comprehensive experience using automation tools to build robust, automated build/release/deploy processes.
  • Understanding of containers and container orchestration.
  • Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal), able to influence various levels of stakeholders.
