The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit science and technology oriented Educational and Research Institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research agenda of the CyI are pursued at its four Research Centers: The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Center (STARC), the Energy Environment Water Research Center (EEWRC) and the Climate and Atmospheric Research Center (CARE-C). Considerable cross-center interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s culture.
The Cyprus Institute invites applications for a highly motivated professional to join the Strategic Planning Unit of the Institute. The Unit develops the tools, technologies and processes required to turn data into information and information into knowledge and plans that optimize business actions. By providing meaningful insight and employing business intelligence 'best practices', the unit strives to increase the CyI's key leaders' capacity to understand, embrace and use data in decision-making.
Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President of Strategy and Development, the Analyst will be responsible for developing and deploying innovative and agile analytic solutions which support organizational performance, transform data into insight to inform decisions and improve organizational processes. The appointment will be on a full-time basis for 24 months, with the prospect of renewal depending on performance. The rank of the appointment will depend on the selected candidate’s level of experience. An attractive remuneration package commensurate to the candidate's rank will be offered to the selected candidate.
Aggregate and analyze data from internal and external sources, to deliver insights that are clear, concise and actionable to increase data-driven action and solutions;
Synthesize data, identify patterns and forecast results based on historical trends and leading indicators to support recommendations for action;
Build intuitive dashboards to communicate complex business concepts;
Generate standard or custom reports summarizing business data to help decision-makers and end-users get informed decisions;
Maintain and update business intelligence tools, databases, dashboards, systems, and methods. Identify issues and recommend enhancements to improve the efficiency of existing programs and reporting infrastructure;
Collaborate with other organizational units to ensure congruency of reporting, minimize duplication of effort, and identify/rectify limitations in data sources and data delivery options;
Create a procedure manual(s) and other resource documents to help end-users understand and be able to troubleshoot and resolve problems as needed;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or analytical field such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics, business, finance or economics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
Ability to design rich storytelling dashboards and narratives to articulate messages and convey complex business concepts;
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to tell a story through data, even to a non-technical audience, and drive strategic decisions and initiatives;
Excellent knowledge of English and Greek languages, both verbally and in writing
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
A postgraduate degree in a quantitative or analytical field such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics, business, finance or economics will be considered an advantage;
Any practical experience in a data-driven business environment will be regarded as an advantage;
Knowledge of power bi, tableau and or other business intelligence tools will be considered an advantage;
Familiarity with local and international Higher Education context principally financial management, governance and academic performance metrics will be viewed favourably;
